EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ON: Employment Specialist, Denise Burns Denise joined our Employment Services team in November, 2011. She works one-on-one with clients to help them overcome barriers to employment, and to find and maintain a job that is the right fit for them. Let’s find out what makes her tick!
I have a BS in Applied Behavioral Sciences with an emphasis in chronic illness. I have more than 20 years’ experience with various aspects of chronic illness, and a passion for educating others on the importance of establishing and maintaining a balance in one’s life when dealing with a chronic illness. I believe success and happiness is achieved when one learns to live in harmony with their illness instead of dismissing or fighting against it.
In my role as Employment Specialist, I have the unique opportunity to help individuals explore and identify their passion, put together a plan of action, and assist each person through the obstacles that may arise while seeking employment. Once a client has found a job, we continue to offer services to both the employer and employee to ensure continued success.
What I enjoy most is witnessing the individual successes of clients I work with. It is such a rewarding experience to see someone’s self-esteem and sense of purpose increase; to see hope instead of hopelessness; to witness a tightly closed bud begin to open and blossom!
